CHANGING THE CAR BATTERY

VOLTAGE MAINTENANCE VIA OBD SOCKET!

Recently, information has come from mechanics that the fuse of the OBD connection has blown a few times during voltage maintenance, e.g. when changing the battery. Always in cars in which the DIY do-it-yourself battery replacement was attempted and/or carried out by the workshop customer himself.

Conclusion.

This can only happen if the car is ‘tinkered with’ while the voltage is being maintained. We have already tested this ourselves on several cars of various makes/models and here is our tip:

Practical tip!

The OBD socket is usually fused to 10-20A, which means that when changing the battery during voltage maintenance, do not ‘play around’ with the car, for example by opening the boot or doors. This is because up to 40A current can quickly flow, even measured with a multimeter, and the OBD fuse in the auxiliary circuit could blow!
