WHAT IS A THRUST OPERATION?
QUITE SIMPLY EXPLAINED
This is a driving condition in which the engine is not separated from the drive train, but is towed by the vehicle, i.e. remains in rotary motion.
In start-stop, electric and especially hybrid cars, the energy released during overrun is used to charge the batteries. This applies to the 12V starter battery and the Li-Ion high-voltage battery.
Today, almost all modern vehicles have a so-called overrun cut-off. This means that in overrun mode, the fuel supply is automatically stopped, thus reducing consumption to zero. It is a very effective system for saving CO2 and fuel!
PS: Only when the engine speed drops below a certain value is some fuel added again.
